Dear Parents,
We understand that as parents, you may have many questions concerning FarmHouse Fraternity or maybe even Purdue University in general. FarmHouse members would not be the outstanding men they are today if it wasn't for the excellent parenting that brought them to this point. First of all, FarmHouse is a Greek fraternity. We are a chartered member of the Interfraternity Council and participate in all Greek campus-wide events. However, as our name implies, we are a unique fraternity. We do not have Greek Letters and do not fit the classical fraternity stereotype that many people have. Although our fraternity was founded by men who were raised in rural American agriculture families, we welcome men of all majors and backgrounds. Included on this website is a list of our current members, their majors, and their hometowns. We uphold a tradition of scholastic excellence and outstanding leadership not only on the Purdue University Campus, but also as an international organization. Men of FarmHouse have held positions of leadership in organizations such as Purdue Student Government, Purdue Foundation Student Board, Interfraternity Council, and thePresident's Leadership Class during the 2009-2010 academic year. We hope that your son will consider joining this rich tradition.
FarmHouse has many benefits that may appeal to you, as well as your son. FarmHouse is alcohol free. While every college student is faced with the decision of whether they will choose to consume or not, living in an alcohol-free environment improves academic performance and provides cleaner, safer living conditions. You may also have financial concerns. Included under "Statistics" on this site is a comparison of FarmHouse Fraternity's living costs with those of the residence halls and apartments. Finally, many parents are concerned about mental of physical degradation of members in fraternities. There is zero tolerance for such activities in FarmHouse Fraternity. The motto of FarmHouse is to "Build Men". Our new member education program is designed to provide an orientation to FarmHouse and Purdue University, learn responsibility & time management, and develop social & professsional skills. This program will be a time commitment and require some dedication, but as our academic history shows, grades are emphasized and held to a high priority.
I invite you to browse the rest of this site for more information. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns. I would also be more than happy to put you into contact with our alumni advisors or one of our parents. We would also like to invite you to come see the house and meet our members for the first part of our rush event(s). We will give house tours and be able to answer any of you questions. We look forward to meeting you and your son!
Sincerely,
Sam Myers
